Last day of August
Hi there, I'm still here...
Simply somewhat out of time to blog, unfortunately.
Been to Italy with the family and back at work for three weeks now.
The weather was so hot down there, approx. 31 °C in the morning and 36 °C at noon. Usually, we hike a lot in our holidays, but it was too darn hot. We went twice this summer, for only about 10 km, which took us 3 hours (snail speed!) and 4 litres of water.
We were very thankful for the AC in our car, because we drove a lot and did quite some sight-seeing.
Unfortunately, the house we lived in did not have AC, in fact, there was hardly any airflow and thus no cooling down in the night (at least until we bought an electric fan in Nice).
At night, the stary sky was wonderful (although the mosquitoes were VERY annoying - on the first evening, hubby caught more than 20 mosquito bites on his right arm. Then we stopped counting. We were quite worried, because he's somewhat allergic to insect bites, but the worst thing that happened was us scratching the mosquito bites til we bled. And there was no way to get rid of the crappy insects. We used Autan, plus a different Italian lotion, plus a citronella candle, plus one of those anti-mosquito spirals, and sprayed the rooms with insecticide in the evening. Which at least reduced the number of bites).
I'll post some pics of the holidays when I can catch the time. Jan started school the day before yesterday and is still quite overwhelmed by the impressions. He has to go by bus now, which seems to be adventurously enough...
When I started work again, I didn't feel like I had much of relaxation in our holiday, and on the second day at the office, I had such a strong longing to start a primal scream therapy...
The weather hasn't really added to my comfort lately. With temperatures of approx. 18 °C at noon, it doesn't feel much like summer. It was raining time and again and in the afternoon, we had thunderstorms and heavy showers. Gah! It felt like autumn, but without the gaudy leafs.
But today, the sky is blue and the sun is shining. Maybe the weather changes at last.
